Odakyu Enoshima Line Katase Enoshima Station

Katase Enoshima Station, the terminal station on the Odakyu Enoshima Line, is located just over an hour from Shinjuku and is characterized by an impressive station building that resembles Ryugu Castle. It is crowded with tourists, including many people coming from Tokyo or returning to Tokyo on the limited express Romance Car. From here, cross Benten Bridge and then Enoshima Ohashi Bridge to Enoshima… Uomitei is at the back of Enoshima, just before the rocky shore of Chigowa Deep. From here, you can enjoy a walk for about 30 minutes.

Enoshima Ohashi Bridge

This is a bridge that crosses Enoshima, with a bridge for cars and a bridge for pedestrians running parallel to each other.
Early bridges were made of wood and were washed away every time there was a typhoon. In 1964, Enoshima was used as the venue for the yachting competition at the Tokyo Olympics, and a yacht harbor was built, and Enoshima Ohashi Bridge, which was exclusively for vehicles, was built parallel to Enoshima Benten Bridge.

Bronze Torii ~ Nakamise Street

When you cross over to Enoshima, the first thing that greets you is a bronze torii gate. From here, it’s also fun to walk along Nakamise Street, which is lined with restaurants and souvenir shops on both sides.

If you are visiting Enoshima for the first time, we recommend going up these stairs or taking the escar on the left to visit Enoshima Shrine.

Pass through the Zuishinmon gate and go up the stairs to Hetsu Shrine, Happi Benzaiten, which is famous as one of Japan’s three major Benten(nationally designated important cultural property),and Hoanden .

This is a walking course that visits Yasaka Shrine, and then heads to Nakatsu Shrine.

If you are visiting Enoshima for the first time, we recommend you to visit Enoshima Shrine and Samuel Cocking Garden, but if you have difficulty climbing stairs or want to take it easy, the Escar is convenient. It costs 360 yen to take three escalators with beautiful decorations.

If you turn right and go up the steep slope without passing through the red torii gate of Ejima Shrine, you can exit in front of Okutsu Shrine without passing in front of Hetsu Shrine, Nakatsu Shrine, etc. or Samuel Cocking Garden. can. Cars and motorcycles can also pass along the route.。

Samuel Cocking Garden

The remains of a Japanese-Western garden created in 1882 by Mr. Samuel Cocking, a trader from Enoshima. With a total area of ​​over 10,000 m2, there were garden paths, rockeries, ponds, flower beds, and a greenhouse measuring 660 m2. In 1949, it became Enoshima Botanical Garden, and in 2003 it was reborn as Enoshima Samuel Cocking Garden.
